Parish Meeting Minutes - 2 Apr 1973
Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Meeting on 2nd Apr 1973.
ANNUAL PARISH MEETING HELD IN LONGWICK VILLAGE HALL ON MONDAY APRIL 2ND 1973 AT 8.0 PM.
Present Cllrs J. Walker, W. Underwood, D. Brock, B. Thomas, J. Metcalfe. Absent Apologies from Cllr F. Gomme. Minutes Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Street Lighting J.W.W. Cllr J. Walker informed the meeting that further enquiries into the costs of Street Lighting revealed they were now higher than at first had been thought. Each column would now cost £85 running costs per year of £1,400 against £1,200 would mean at least a 1½p rate increase. In view of this the council thought that full lighting was out and that selective lighting was the course open to them. Discussions followed, but finally a proposal for selective lighting was called for, which was immediately counteracted by a proposal for no lighting at all, a show of hands showed 33 for no lighting at all, against 10 for selective lighting, consequently Longwick would not be having street lights yet.
