Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 20th Mar 1952.
Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom Longwick on Thursday March 20th following the Annual Parish meeting. To read and confirm the minutes of the last meeting To discuss the matter of a new representative on the Wycombe Rural District Council. To appoint a Clerk to the Parish Council. Payment of Accounts. Any other business. Present: Councillors W. J. Harper (Chairman). A Ancliffe D. Claydon A. J. Goodchild, E. J. Girling. Mrs D. M. Walker, F Williams & the Clerk.
Minutes The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Arising from the minutes the Clerk read a letter from the Housing Manager of the Wycombe Rural District Council about the fences of Blenheim Close
Correspondence The Clerk read a letter from the Returning Officer of the Wycombe R.D.C. regarding the forthcoming Parish Council Elections.
To discuss the matter of a new representative to the Wycombe R.D.C After some full discussion on this point it was proposed Councillor Goodchild and seconded Councillor Girling and carried that Mrs D. M. Walker be asked to stand again to represent Longwick on the Wycombe R.D.C. Mrs Walker expressed her willingness to stand.
To appoint a Clerk to the Parish Council. It was proposed by Councillor Mrs D. M. Walker and seconded Councillor D. Claydon and carried unanimously that Mr Arthur Ancliffe of "Cosy Corner" Longwick be appointed as Clerk to the Council, to hold office during the pleasure of the Council, and to perform all duties appertaining to the office, duties to commence on April 1st 1952 with a yearly salary of eight pounds, payable in equal instalments of two pounds each, on the usual quarter days.
Payment of Accounts. It was proposed Councillor Goodchild seconded Councillor Williams that the following accounts be passed for payment 1) Correspondent to the C. of E. Schools, Longwick 10/- being one years rent for the use of the Schoolroom. 2) E. Lewis C Galloway £2 . 7 . 2, being the amount of one quarters Salary to 24.3.52 and postages for the year, this was carried.
Any other business: 1) Speed limit. The Clerk was instructed to write to the County of Buckingham Association of Parish Councils to ask for their help to get a speed limit introduced.
2) Red Lion Bus Stop The Clerk was instructed to write to the County Surveyor to ask if a piece of tarmac could be placed at the bus stop on the grass verge.
3) Election of Parish Councillors. This was discussed at length. Councillors
Mrs Walker and A. J. Goodchild stated that they would not be seeking re-election and as Councillor Ancliffe had now been appointed Clerk to the Council, he also will not be seeking re-election. W. J Harper May 22 / 52
