Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 21st Feb 1952.
Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom Longwick on Thursday, February 21st at 7 p.m. To read and confirm the minutes of the last meeting. To appoint a Trustee for Monks Risborough Charities To reappoint five Parish Constables. To issue a Precept upon the Rating Authority for General Expenses Any other business Present Councillors W. J. Harper (Chairman), Mrs D. Walker. A. Ancliffe. D. Claydon. E. J. Girling & the Clerk. At the commencement of the meeting the Chairman asked the Councillors present to stand for a minute in Silence in memory of His Late Majesty King George VI.
Minutes The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Arising from the minutes the Clerk said that he had written the County Surveyor re the entrance to the Meadle Road on the Lower Icknield Way, but that the Surveyor had replied that he did not feel any more indication was necessary. The Chairman gave an account of the meeting of the County of Buckingham Association of Parish Councils. It was stated at this meeting that our Council had not paid its affiliation fees, It was therefore proposed Councillor Ancliffe and seconded Councillor Mrs Walker that said affiliation fee
of £1.10 for the current year be paid. This was carried
Appointment of Trustee for Monks Risborough Charities It was proposed Councillor Ancliffe and seconded Councillor Mrs Walker that Mr Owen Tapping be re-appointed as Trustee to the Monks Risborough Charities for a further period of four years. This was carried
Re-appointment of Parish Constables It was proposed Councillor Ancliffe and seconded Councillor Claydon and carried that Messrs O. Goodchild F. Williams H. Goodchild, O. Tapping and E. T. Rutland be re-appointed as Parish Constables for the year 1952.
To issue a Precept upon the Rating Authority for General Expenses It was proposed Councillor Girling and seconded Councillor Claydon and carried that a Precept be issued on the Rating Authority for the General Expenses of the Parish Council for the sum of Twenty Pounds, £20.
Any other business The Clerk read a letter from the Home Office re the forthcoming election of Parish Councillors. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Rural District Council re the unsatisfactory state of the fences in front of the Council Houses. Following reports that Mr Mead & Mr Williams of Kimble were unable to accept the position of Clerk to the Council, it was suggested by the Chairman & warmly welcomed by the Councillors present that Councillor Ancliffe might be
willing to accept the office of Clerk to the Council, if he did not seek re-election to the Council in May as a Councillor. Councillor Ancliffe expressed his willingness to accept the office, but as two of the Councillors were not present he would prefer the matter not to be settled until the next meeting when it was hoped that the other two members would be present. This was agreed. The date of the next meeting was fixed for Thursday, March 20th W. J Harper March 20/52
