Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 24th May 1951.
Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick, on Thursday May 24th at 8 p.m. To elect the Chairman for 1951-52 " " " Vice Chairman " " " Correspondence received. Survey of footpaths. Payment of Accounts. Any other business Present Councillors W. J. Harper (Chairman) A. Ancliffe D Claydon, E. J. Girling, A. J. Goodchild, Mrs D. M. Walker, F. Williams and the Clerk.
Minutes. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Arising from the minutes Councillor Ancliffe gave a report on the Chairman's & his visit to the meeting of Association of Parish Councils at Wycombe on April 4th. This had proved to be very largely a waste of time. Before proceeding to the main business the Chairman conveyed to the Clerk the congratulations of the Council on his unopposed return to the Rural District Council, and the Clerk expressed his thanks.
Election of Chairman It was proposed Councillor Mrs Walker and seconded Councillor Ancliffe and carried that Councillor W. J. Harper again act as Chairman for 1951-52.
Election of Vice-chairman The Chairman proposed and Councillor E. J. Girling seconded that Councillor A. J. Goodchild again act Vice-Chairman for 1951-52. this was carried.
Correspondence received The Clerk read letters from the Divisional Surveyor confirming that work on the footpaths & stiles in the Parish requested in December & March had now been carried out. The Clerk also read a letter from the Buckinghamshire Playing Field Association asking the Council to become members, but it was decided to let this matter lie on the table.
Survey of footpaths After some discussion on this matter it was proposed Councillor Mrs Walker seconded Councillor A. Ancliffe that a Sub-committee consisting of the Chairman, Councillors D Claydon F. Williams & the Clerk be appointed to deal with this. This was carried and it was then decided to hold the first meeting on Thursday June 7th at 7.30 p.m. at Greenacres.
Payment of Accounts It was proposed Councillor Claydon & seconded Councillor Williams that the following accounts be passed for payment 1) E. L. C. Galloway, the Clerk £1 : - : - for purchase of an audit stamp. 2) Messrs Hadden, Best & Co Ltd. £ - : 10s : 5d for Parish meeting notices & Audit notices. This was carried.
Any other business Councillor Ancliffe brought up the very unsatisfactory arrangements for collection of refuse, and the Clerk stated that as the new representative of the Parish on the Rural District Council, he would bring this up at the first possible moment. W. J Harper 9/8/51
