Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 30th May 1949.

The Annual Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council was held in the Schoolroom, Longwick on Monday May 30th 1949 at 7.30 pm. Councillors to sign declaration of acceptance of office. To appoint a Chairman and Vice-Chairman for the ensuing Year. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. Replies to Correspondence. To appoint two representatives to serve on the Rating and Valuation Committee of the Wycombe R.D Council for the ensuing Year. Consideration of communication re Third Annual General Meeting of the County of Buckingham Association of Parish Councils, also conference of Parish Councils. Present:- Councillors W. J. Harper (Chairman) A. Ancliffe. D. Claydon. E. J. Girling A. J. Goodchild and Dora M. Walker. F. Williams. and the Clerk (Robert Bailey).

Declarations of acceptance of Office Declarations of acceptance of Office were duly signed by the Councillors.

Chairman Proposed by Councillor Walker seconded by Councillor E. J. Girling that Councillor W. J. Harper be appointed Chairman for the ensuing Year. Carried

Vice Chairman Proposed by Councillor Williams seconded by Councillor Claydon that Mr. A. J. Goodchild be appointed Vice-Chairman for the ensuing Year. Carried.

Minutes The Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

Road Sign East End of Bar Lane The Divisional Surveyor wrote informing the Council that a sign is on order for the junction at the East End of Bar Lane and will be erected on delivery.

Road Sign Lower Icknield Way The Clerk was asked to write to the Divisional Surveyor asking for an indication arm to be put on the

road sign at Lower Icknield Way indicating the direction to Meadle, and distance 1/4 miles.

Representatives on Rating and Valuation Committee The following were appointed to serve on the Rating and Valuation Committee of the Wycombe R.D. Council for the ensuing year - Councillors E. J. Girling and D. Claydon. Carried

Councillor Harper to attend General Meeting Association of Parish Councils It was agreed that Councillor W. J. Harper should attend the 3rd Annual General Meeting of the County of Buckingham Association of Parish Councils to be held at Aylesbury on June 18th 1949. No action was taken regarding Conference of Parish Councils.

Alleged obstruction to foot-path at Ilmer The question of alleged obstruction of footpath at Ilmer was left to Chairman to make an inspection and report to next meeting.

Letter of thanks to Mr W. A Walker re War Memorial Longwick. Proposed by Councillor Ancliffe seconded by Councillor E. J. Girling that a letter of thanks and appreciation be sent to Mr. W. A Walker for bearing the expense of putting the names of the fallen in the 1939-1945 War on the War Memorial at Longwick. Carried unan.

Dedication of Names on the War Memorial. The question of any formal dedication of the additional names was left over until the next meeting.

Stopping Trains Ilmer Halt on Sundays It was agreed to enquire from Station master if there would be any stopping trains at Ilmer Halt on Sundays under the new arrangements which come into force on July 4th 1949. W J Harper Aug 8 1949
