Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 27th Sep 1948.

Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick on Monday Sept 27th 1948 at 8 pm. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. Payment of accounts Consideration of provision of Telephone Kiosks at Ilmer and Meadle. Letter from the County Council re foot paths Present:- Councillors W. J. Harper (Chairman). D. M. Walker D. Claydon. F. Williams E. J. Girling H. W Lewis and the Clerk.

Minutes The Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

Insertion of Names of Fallen 1939-45 War on War Memorial Longwick The Clerk reported that Councillor Walker and himself met a representative from the Excelsior Monument Works, [inserted: Aylesbury] at the War Memorial Longwick, when an arrangement was arrived at to place a Tablet on the lower step of the Memorial on which to place the names of the fallen in the 1939-45 War It was also agreed that when the work was carried out, the Memorial should also be cleaned. The Council confirmed the arrangements and it was left to the Clerk to forward the list of names to the Excelsior Monumental Works and to ask that the quotation for the work should be sent direct to Mr Wm A Walker who

had agreed to meet the cost of the work.

County of Buckingham Association of Parish Councils Consideration was given to the question of Subscribing to the County of Buckingham Association of Parish Councils. Proposed by Councillor Williams seconded by Councillor Claydon that the Council do not subscribe to the Association for the financial year ending March 31st 1949. Carried.

Accounts for Payment Proposed by Councillor F. Williams seconded by Councillor Girling that the following accounts be passed for payment:- Harold R. East, Employers Liability Insurance 5/-. Robert Bailey. Quarters Salary as Clerk to 29/9/48 £1/5/-d Carried

Telephone Kiosks The question of the provision of Telephone Kiosks in the villages of Ilmer and Meadle was discussed. Proposed by Councillor Walker seconded by Councillor Williams that application be made to the Telephone authorities for Kiosks to be provided at Ilmer and Meadle. Carried

Illumination of Kiosk Longwick It was also agreed that a reminder be sent to the Telephone Authority respecting the illumination of the Kiosk in Longwick.

Foot paths The Clerk to the Bucks County Council wrote saying that at the last meeting of the Highways Committee he was instructed to prepare and submit for consideration by the Committee a statement showing public footpaths in the County which have been ploughed up since 1939 under Defence (General) Regulation 62 (5A) and not yet re-instated, and to send a copy of the Statement to all Parish Councils and Parish Meetings to ascertain whether they agreed with the statement and whether there are any other public footpaths which have been ploughed up and not yet re-instated. It should be noted that the Defence Regulation referred to above was revoked with effect from September 28th 1945. The Clerk was instructed to reply, that the Council agree

with the Statement, and that to the best of their knowledge there are not any other footpaths which have been ploughed up and not yet re-instated. A. J. Goodchild. 28/2/1949.
