Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 15th Apr 1946.
The Annual Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council was held in the Schoolroom, Longwick on Monday April 15th 1946 at 8 pm. Councillors to sign Declaration of acceptance of office. To appoint a Chairman and Vice-Chairman for the ensuing year. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. To appoint two Representatives to serve on the Valuation Committee of the Wycombe R.D. Council for the ensuing year. Letter from Wycombe R.D. Council re formation of Parish Councils Association. To consider question of future meetings. Present:- Councillors F. Williams (Chairman) D. M. Walker, D. Claydon. Albert J. Goodchild, Wm J. Harper. Ed. J. Girling, Herbert. W. Lewis and the Clerk.
Declarations of acceptance of Office Declarations of acceptance of Office as a Councillor duly signed by all the members.
Chairman Proposed by Councillor Albert. J. Goodchild, seconded by Councillor E. J. Girling that Councillor Fred Williams, be appointed as Chairman for the ensuing year. Carried.
Vice - Chairman Proposed by Councillor Dora M. Walker, seconded by Councillor Herbert W. Lewis, that Councillor William Joseph Harper be appointed as Vice - Chairman for the ensuing year. Carried.
Minutes The Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Representatives on Valuation Committee Wycombe R.D. Council Proposed by Councillor H. W. Lewis seconded by Councillor David Claydon that Councillors Fred Williams and Albert James Goodchild be appointed as Representatives to serve on the Valuation Committee of the Wycombe R. D. Council for the ensuing year. Carried.
Parish Councils Association A letter was read from the Wycombe R. D. Council re Association of Parish Councils and enclosing for the information
of the Parish Council a note upon the Conference held at High Wycombe on the 16th February last. A further meeting would be held on the 27th April when it is desired that having considered the matter, each Parish Council should be in a position to vote upon a resolution to form an Area Committee of Parish Councils in the Wycombe Rural District, and that delegates be appointed from the Parish Council with authority to vote upon the resolution. Proposed by Councillor Claydon seconded by Councillor Girling that Councillor Harper attend as this Council's delegate with authority to vote in favour of an Area Committee of Parish Councils in the Wycombe Rural District Council. Carried.
Future meetings of Parish Council Consideration was given to the holding of future meetings of the Parish Council. It was proposed by Councillor David Claydon seconded by Councillor Lewis that the Annual Meeting of the Council be held on the second Monday after the 15th April, and that the Statutory meetings of the Council be held on the last Monday in June Sept. December and March. Carried.
Parish Meeting re. Victory Celebrations Proposed by Councillor Lewis seconded by Councillor Girling that a Parish Meeting be convened to take place at the Village Hall Longwick on Monday April 29th 1946 at 8 pm to ascertain the wishes of the Parishioners regarding Victory Celebrations on June 8th 1946. Carried.
Thanks to Council The Chairman thanked the Councillors for appointing him as Chairman and he also extended a welcome to the new Councillors Dora M. Walker & D. Claydon.
Signatures for Bank purposes The signatures of all the Councillors were obtained for Bank purposes. Cheques to be signed by any two Councillors, and countersigned by the Clerk. Fred Williams June 24 1946
