Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick on Monday January 28th 1946 at 6.30pm. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. Consideration of a Speed Limit through Longwick. Letter from Wycombe R.D. Council re Parish Councils Association. Payment of accounts. Road Signs near Red Lion, Longwick. Date of Meeting for Election of Parish Councillors. Commemoration of the fallen from Longwick. Present:- Councillors Wm A. Walker (Chairman). Albert Jas Goodchild, Wm Joseph Harper. Fred Williams Herbert Wm Lewis and the Clerk.
Apology for absence Apology for absence received from Councillor H. S. Pope.
Minutes Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Speed Limit A letter was read from Longwick Womens Institute re provision of a Speed Limit through Longwick. Proposed by Councillor W. J. Harper seconded by Councillor Lewis that application be made to the Bucks County Divisional Highways Surveyor for a Speed Limit of 30 miles per hour to be imposed from the junction of Summerleys Road with Chinnor & Longwick Road through Longwick to a point near Anderdon Farm on the Thame Road. Carried.
Meeting re Parish Councils Association A letter was read from Wycombe R.D. Council re proposals to form a Parish Councils Association and asking for a Representative to be sent to a meeting being held at the Council Chamber, Wycombe R.D. Council Offices on Saturday February 16th 1946 at 2.30pm. It was agreed that Councillor W. J. Harper attend as the Parish Councils representative.
Payment of accounts Proposed by Councillor Lewis seconded by Councillor Williams that the following accounts be passed for payment:- Commons Preservation Society, Annual Subscription 10/6d.
Messrs Shaw & Sons Ltd. Financial Statements, Parish Meeting and Audit Notices 18/2d. Robert Bailey Three Quarters Salary as Clerk to 25/12/45 £3/15/-. Refund of Cash paid for Employers Liability Insurance 10/-d Audit Stamp 1944/45 5/- Total Cheque to Bailey £4/10/-. Carried.
Signposts near Red Lion Longwick The Clerk was asked to write to the Divisional Highways Surveyor asking for the Signposts and Direction Signs to be re-erected on the triangular verge opposite the Red Lion, Longwick.
Meeting for Election of Parish Councillors It was agreed that the Meeting for Election of Parish Councillors be held at The Village Hall, Longwick on Wednesday March 13th 1946 at 7 pm subject to the consent of the Bucks County Council being obtained.
Recording of additional names of fallen from Longwick The question of arranging for the names of the men from Longwick who had fallen in the War to be recorded was brought forward and it was thought that they might be included on the present War Memorial at Longwick but as the War Memorial was vested in Trustees, it was decided that the matter should be referred to them.
