Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 18th Mar 1940.
Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom on Monday March 18th 1940 at 6.45 pm. To read and confirm Minutes. Correspondence. Payment of accounts. Consideration of dangerous foot bridge on foot path leading from Longwick to Owlswick. Consideration of unsatisfactory state of the Stile leading to Meadle. Present:- Councillors Wm A. Walker (Chairman). H. S. Pope. E. J. Girling, H. W. Lewis, F. Williams, A. J. Goodchild, W. J. Harper and Mr Robert Bailey (Clerk).
Minutes Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
Foot path Meadle A reply was received from Mr. Hector MacQuarrie, respecting the alleged projection of a lawn over the public foot path on his property at Meadle, from which it was ascertained that no cause for complaint now existed. The Clerk was instructed to reply thanking Mr. MacQuarrie for his letter, and to state that the Council are now satisfied that no obstruction to the footpath now exists.
Foot bridge across public foot path from Longwick to Owlswick Proposed by Councillor Williams seconded by Councillor Harper that Messrs J. Walker & Son, be asked to provide a new foot bridge across the Brook on the public foot path leading from Longwick to Owlswick. Carried
Stile on Foot path to Meadle The Clerk was asked to communicate with Mr. W. H. Lavington of Askett, asking him to erect a new stile on his property, over the foot path leading out of Mr Ernest East's meadow into his meadow by Ashby's Farm, Meadle.
Payment of accounts Proposed by Councillor H. S. Pope seconded by Councillor F. Williams that Cheques be drawn
in payment of the following accounts:- Robert Bailey, One Quarters Salary as Clerk to 25/3/40 £1/5/-. Postages (One year) 3/4d. Total Cheque £1/8/4. The Correspondent, Longwick C of E. School for use of Schoolroom for meetings (One year). 10/-d. Carried. Wm A Walker
