Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 27th Feb 1939.

Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick on Monday February 27th 1939 at 6.30 pm. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. Correspondence. Report re Sale of Parish Property. Nomination of Parish Constables. Payment of accounts. Present:- Councillors Wm A. Walker (Chairman), H. S. Pope, Albert Jas Goodchild, Wm Joseph Harper, Fred Williams, Edward J. Girling, Herbert Wm Lewis and the Clerk.

Bar Lane The County Surveyor wrote with reference to Bar Lane, stating that the South Western Divisional Highways Committee of the County Council, had under consideration a scheme for the widening of Bar Lane, and as the Committee were of opinion that such a scheme was not warranted at the present time in view of the relatively small amount of traffic using this road, it was decided to recommend that four sections of the ditch nearest the edge of the carriageway be piped and filled in as an interim measure.

Report re Sale of Parish Cottages & Land The Clerk reported that the sale of the Parish Cottages and land was completed, on December 5th 1938 and that with the approval of the Minister of Health the proceeds of the sale amounting to £52 had been utilised in the purchase of £72/17/8 2 1/2% Consolidated Stock in the name of the Parish Council of Longwick-cum-Ilmer the interest arising thereon, to be placed to the credit of the Parish Council's account at Lloyds Bank Ltd Princes Risborough. A refund of 10/6d in respect of Premium on Fire Insurance Policy had been made by the Phoenix Assurance Co Ltd, which had been paid into the

Council's account at Lloyds Bank Ltd. There was no outstanding liabilities to be met in connection with the Sale of the cottages to Mr G. H. Donald. The Council expressed their satisfaction with the results of the sale.

Nomination of Parish Constables Proposed by Councillor Pope seconded by Councillor Harper, that the outgoing Parish Constables be re-nominated for the ensuing year:- namely Messrs Owen Goodchild, Fred Williams, Harry Goodchild, William Alfred Richardson, Charles Tucker, Ernest Thomas Rutland. Carried

Payment of accounts Proposed by Councillor Harper seconded by Councillor Pope that Cheques be drawn in payment of the following accounts:- Logonia Premium on Clerks Bond 3/-d. Commons Preservation Society. Annual Subscription 10/6d. Robert Bailey One Quarters Salary as Clerk to 25/12/38 £1/5/- Cash paid for Cheque Book 5/- Total Cheque to Bailey £1/10/- Carried
