Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 24th Oct 1938.
Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick on Monday October 24th 1938 at 6.30 pm. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. Letter from Minister of Health consenting to sale of Parish Property at Ilmer. To appoint two persons residing in the ancient Parish of Monks Risborough to act as Trustees to the Monks Risborough Charities. Payment of accounts. Present:- Councillors Wm A. Walker (Chairman) A. J. Goodchild, H. W. Lewis, F. Williams, W. J. Harper, E. J. Girling and Mr Robert Bailey (Clerk).

The following letter was received from the Ministry of Health.
Consent of Minister of Health to Sale of Parish Property Parish of Longwick-cum-Ilmer. Proposed sale of Parish Property. Sir, I am directed by the Minister of Health to advert to your letter of the 12th Sept and to forward to you herewith formal consent to the sale of land and three old cottages situate in the village of Ilmer, known as "Close End Cottages" and of an area of .211 acres or thereabouts. When the sale has been completed I am to request that the Minister may be informed of the wishes of the Council in regard to the application of the proceeds of the sale. The following is a copy of the Consent to the sale of the property. Consent to the sale of land. The Minister of Health, on the application of the Parish Council of Longwick-cum-Ilmer and in pursuance of his powers under Local Government Act, 1933, hereby consents to the sale in consideration of the sum of £52. (Fifty two pounds) of the land and 3 old cottages situate in the village of Ilmer, known as "Close End Cottages" and of an area of .211 acres or thereabouts. Given under the Official Seal of the Minister of Health this 6th day of October 1938.
Sale of Parish Property to Mr G. H. Donald Proposed by Councillor E. J. Girling seconded by Councillor A. J. Goodchild, that the Minister of Health having consented to the sale of the land and the 3 old Cottages known as Close End Cottages situate in the village of Ilmer, in consideration of the sum of £52. The offer of Mr. G. H. Donald, of Dragon Farm, Long Crendon, of £52 (Fifty two pounds) for the purchase be accepted. Carried
Messrs Lightfoot & Lowndes to act for the Parish Council in connection with the Conveyance Proposed by Councillor F. Williams seconded by Councillor E. J. Girling, that Messrs Lightfoot and Lowndes, Solicitors, of High Street, Princes Risborough be employed on behalf of the Council to deal with the Conveyance of the property to Mr. G. H. Donald. Carried
Proceeds to be invested for the benefit of the Parish of Longwick-cum-Ilmer Proposed by Councillor W. J. Harper seconded by Councillor F. Williams that the Minister of Health be informed that the Council wish the proceeds to be invested for the benefit of the Parish of Longwick-cum-Ilmer and that the interest accruing on
the Investment be placed to the General Account of the Parish Council of Longwick-cum-Ilmer at Lloyds Bank Ltd Princes Risborough. Carried
Clerk to notify other persons that offers not accepted The Clerk was asked to notify Messrs H. Smith, Walter Rose and Mrs S. Matthews that their offers to purchase the property were not accepted.
Trustees Monks Risborough Charities Proposed by Councillor F. Williams seconded by Councillor H. W. Lewis that Mr Edward John Girling of Meadle and Mr Charles Tucker of Owlswick be appointed to act as Trustees to the Monks Risborough Charities. Carried
Payment of accounts Proposed by Councillor W. J. Harper seconded by Councillor H. W. Lewis, that Cheques be drawn in payment of the following accounts:- Messrs Parrott & Coales, Fire Insurance on Parish Cottages 15/-d. Mr Robert Bailey One Quarters Salary as Clerk to 29/9/38 £1-5-0. Additional Duty on Audit Stamp 5/- 1937/38. Carried
Financial Statement The Financial Statement of Accounts for the year ending March 31st 1938 as certified by the District Auditor was laid before the meeting. Wm A Walker Feb 27th 1939.
