Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick, on Monday February 4th 1935 at seven o'clock in the evening. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. Correspondence. Resignation of Councillor A. Tubb. Consideration of Bus Service for Longwick Consideration of the celebrating of the Silver Jubilee of their Majesties the King and Queen Nomination of Parish Constables. Payment of accounts. Present:- Councillors Wm A. Walker (Chairman) Albert James Goodchild, William Joseph Harper. Henry Rogers, Herbert Sydney Pope. Fred Williams and Robert Bailey (Clerk)
Minutes Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
Postal Services A communication was received from the Postmaster General re Postal Services in Longwick from which it was ascertained there was no likelihood of any change being effected in the present arrangements. It was agreed that the matter lie on the table.
Demolition Order for Parish Cottages The Wycombe R.D. Council wrote informing the Council that they had now decided to make Demolition Orders in respect of the two Parish Cottages at Ilmer. After a discussion as to the possibilities of disposing of the property for storage purposes, it was agreed that the matter be left over for the time being, and the Chairman to suggest to the Wycombe Rural District, a suitable site for the erection of the necessary houses to re-house the present tenants
Resignation of Councillor Tubb Councillor A. Tubb tendered his resignation from the Council as he had now left the Parish. Proposed by Councillor Walker seconded by Councillor Williams that it be accepted and the Clerk to express to him the Councils thanks, for his services. Carried
Appointment of E. J. Girling to fill vacancy on Council Proposed by Councillor Williams seconded by Councillor Harper that Mr Edward John Girling of Meadle, be appointed a Councillor to fill the vacancy. Carried
Bus Service Longwick The Clerk was asked to write to the Traffic Commissioners for the East Midland Traffic Area, pointing out that in their Notices & Proceedings No 204, 1st Febry 1935 giving details of a proposed Bus Service, linking up the village of Longwick. that a mis-print or misunderstanding had been made, as it was intended that the daily Service should be Monday to Saturday and not Monday to Friday as printed, in addition to the additional services on Saturday & Holidays.
Silver Jubilee of Their Majesties the King & Queen The question of what steps shall be taken to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Their Majesties the King and Queen on May 6th was discussed.
Parish Meeting to be called Proposed by Councillor Pope seconded by Councillor Harper that a Parish Meeting be called in the Village Hall, Longwick, on February 19th at 7.30. pm. to obtain the views of the Parishioners on the matter. Carried
Nomination of Parish Constables Proposed by Councillor Goodchild seconded by Councillor Pope that the following persons be nominated to serve as Parish Constables for the ensuing Year Messrs Fred Williams and Owen Goodchild of Longwick Harry Goodchild and William Frederick King of Ilmer and Charles Tucker of Owlswick. Carried
Payment of accounts Proposed by Councillor W. J. Harper seconded by Councillor F. Williams that Cheques be drawn in payment of the following accounts:- Robert Bailey. Three Quarters Salary as Clerk to 25/12/34 £3/15/0. Repayment of Cash advanced on behalf of the Council in payment of the following:- Premium and Stamp Duty
on Clerks Bond (1934) 3/6d Premium on Employers Liability Insurance Policy 10/- Rates on Parish Cottages for half year ending Sept 29th 1934 £1-10-10, Fire Insurance on Parish Cottages 15/- Total Cheque £6/14/4. Messrs Shaw & Sons Ltd, Minutes Books, Forms etc £3/3/8. Commissioners of Inland Revenue. Sch A Tax on Parish Cottages 1934/5 £1/0/3. "Logonia" Premium on Clerks Bond (1935) 3/-. Carried
Overhanging Tree on Ilmer Road The Clerk was asked to call the attention of the Highways Surveyor to the dangerous overhanging tree on the Ilmer Road on the property occupied by Messrs S. M & W. J. Claridge. Mch 25th 1935 Wm A Walker
