Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 9th Jul 1934.
Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick on Monday July 9th 1934 at 8 pm. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. To consider the following matters:- (1) Shelter at Ilmer Railway Halt (2) Application to the Railway Co., for a Halt at Longwick (3) Employers Liability Insurance in respect of Clerk. To appoint one representative to serve on the Local Higher Education Committee in respect of Longwick and Princes Risborough C. of E. Schools. Consideration of Rights of Way act 1932. Ministry of Health Circular re adoption of Standing Orders relating to Contracts by the Council. To issue Precept upon the Rating Authority for General Expenses of the Council. Report of Representatives re appointment of a Manager to Longwick & Princes Risborough C. of E. Schools. To receive any matters for placing on the agenda for next meeting. Present:- Messrs Wm A. Shelter at Ilmer Railway Halt As it was reported that the Passengers travelling from Ilmer Halt only averaged two a week, the Council were of an opinion no good purpose would be served at present by making application to the Railway Co for the provision of a Shelter at the Halt.
Provision of a Railway Halt for Longwick The question of the advantage to Longwick of a Railway Halt in the village was discussed. Proposed by Councillor Pope seconded by Councillor Williams that application be made to the Railway Company for a Halt to be provided, pointing out the lack of facilities for transport
Longwick. Carried
Employers Indemnity Policy to be taken out It was agreed that the Clerk should arrange for an Employers Indemnity Policy to be taken out in respect of his employment as Clerk to the Council.
Representative on Local Higher Education Committee Proposed by Councillor Rogers seconded by Councillor Williams that Mr William Joseph Harper be appointed a representative to serve on the Local Higher Education Committee in respect of Princes Risborough & Longwick C. of E. Schools. Carried
Defining of Public Right of Ways in the Parish The question of what steps shall be taken regarding the defining of the Public right of Ways in the Parish was under consideration and it was proposed by Councillor Pope seconded by Councillor Williams, that the whole of the Councillors should traverse the Public right of Ways in the Parish, with a view of preparing a map of the same in due course. Carried
Adoption of Standing Orders relating to Contracts Proposed by Councillor Williams seconded by Councillor Harper that the Draft Standing Orders relating to Contracts by the Council as issued by the Ministry of Health be adopted. Carried
Precept for General Expenses Proposed by Councillor Harper seconded by Councillor Rogers that a Precept for £18. (Eighteen pounds) be issued upon the Rating Authority for General Expenses of the Parish Council payable on the 31st December 1934 Carried
Report re appointment of Manager to P. Risborough & Longwick C. of E. School The Report of the Representatives re the appointment of one Manager to the Princes Risborough and Longwick C. of E. Schools was received and adopted.
Hedge at Bar Lane Longwick The Clerk was asked to write to Mr George Wooster of Longwick re trimming of hedge on the corner of his property at Bar Lane, Longwick.
Financial Statement Ilmer Parish Meeting The Financial Statement of Accounts in respect of Ilmer Parish Meeting for the year ending March 31st 1934 as certified by the District Auditor was laid before the meeting. Wm A Walker Oct 8 1934
