Vestry Meeting Minutes
The combined Vestry and Parochial Church Meeting was held in the Parish Room, Ilmer, on the 24th of April, 1935. There were present - the Rev. W. O'Connor, Vicar, in the chair, Mr. W. J. Harper, churchwarden, Mrs. Pursell, Mrs. Kingham, Mrs. A. Kingham, Mrs. Harper, Mrs. Scot West.
The Minutes of meetings of April 5, 1932 and April 2, 1934, were read and confirmed. The Vicar nominated Mrs. W.T. White, of Ilmer House as churchwarden: Mr. W.J. Harper was unanimously re-elected People's Churchwarden. The Vicar was asked to act as Secretary, and agreed. Mr. W.J. Harper was re-appointed clerk and sexton.
The statement of Income and Expenditure for the calendar year 1934 was read and approved. Balance to credit on Dec 31, 1934 was £7-15-8. Referring to Minutes of Meeting of April 5, 1932 it was agreed that the quarterly collection for the Oxford Diocesan Fund should take place at one of the celebrations held on the third Sunday of the month in each quarter.
The Vicar undertook to ascertain the sum payable for insurance of the stained-glass window in memory of Mrs. Jaques; this sum to be an annual charge on the funds of the parish. It was reported that a preliminary inspection of the church roof had been made by Mr. A.S. Vernon who had promised to come again for a thorough examination. The meeting approved of a proposal by the Vicar to endeavour to introduce the Duplex Envelope system into the parish.
The following list of charities to be supported by Church collections was approved:- Mothers' Union (Overseas Work), Diocesan Church Schools, S.P.G., Augmentation of Poor Benefices, Rescue and Preventive Work, Jerusalem and the East Mission, Red Cross, St. Agatha's Home, Haig's Fund.
