Vestry Meeting Minutes

Ilmer Parish 1930. The combined Easter Vestry meeting & meeting of Parochial Electors was held in the Parish Room on Friday Apr. 25 at 7 p.m. Present: The Vicar (in the chair), Mr Goodchild, Mr Quint, Miss Ada Stone & Mr W. Harper.

After prayer, the minutes of the last meeting were read, approved & signed. The Vicar announced that Mr A. Goodchild had consented to accept office as his warden & the meeting re-elected Mr Harper as Peoples warden. Subject to his acceptance of office Mr Quint was elected as sidesman.

The Vicar produced the statement of accounts for 1929 duly audited by Mr H.L. Hensman. The thanks of the meeting were accorded to Mr Hensman & the statement, showing a balance in hand on Dec 31st of £3-5-1, was approved. On the motion of Mr Harper the thanks of the Parish were accorded to the Vicar for the lantern service on Good Friday. The Vicar thanked the Parish for their kindness to him since his appointment.

The question as to whether it was advisable to have the services in the Winter months at 6 p.m. instead of at 3 p.m. was discussed but nothing was settled. Mr Goodchild suggested that he thought he could supply a lantern for future services & was thanked for the suggestion. The matter of a new stove for next Winter was raised & the Vicar undertook to see Mr Quint on the subject.

The Vicar pointed out that by law, as there were less than 300 inhabitants, all who were on the electoral roll formed the Parochial Church Council.

This was all the business.
