Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Meeting on 15th Mar 1937.
PARISH MEETING ELECTION OF COUNCILLORS 1937. A Parish Meeting for the Election of seven Parish Councillors was held in the Village Hall, Longwick, on Monday March 15th 1937 at 6.30 pm. Present:- Messrs Wm A. Walker. H S. Pope, W. J. Harper. Fred Williams, Herbert Wm Lewis, Wm Barnard Brooke. Edgar Green, Richard Thos Green H. Harvey Mrs F. Williams Miss J Claydon. Robert Bailey (Clerk) and others.
Chairman Mr Wm A. Walker (Chairman of the Parish Council) asked for nominations to be handed in, and as he was found to be nominated, he vacated the chair, and on the proposition of Mr W. J. Harper seconded by Mr. Wm A. Walker, Mr. Wm Barnard Brooke was elected to the Chair.
Nominations After the statutory fifteen minutes allowed for handing in nominations had elapsed, the statement as to the validly nominated Candidates, together with their names in alphabetical order was made to the meeting and an opportunity afforded for putting questions to the Candidates. As there were only seven nominations for seven seats the Chairman declared the following persons duly elected as Councillors:-
Councillors duly elected Edward John Girling Albert James Goodchild. William Joseph Harper. Herbert William Lewis. Herbert Sydney Pope William Arthur Walker. Fred Williams.
Vote of thanks to Chairman A vote of thanks to the Chairman, proposed by Mr. W. A. Walker seconded by Mr H. S. Pope concluded the meeting. Wm A Walker 22/3/37.
