Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Meeting on 22nd Feb 1937.

PARISH MEETING Coronation Celebrations King George VI. and Queen Elizabeth. A Parish Meeting was held in the Longwick Village Hall, on Tuesday February 22nd 1937 at 7.30 pm. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. To consider what steps shall be taken to celebrate the Coronation of Their Majesties King George VI. and Queen Elizabeth. Present:- Messrs Wm A. Walker (Chairman) H. S. Pope, F. Williams, W. J. Harper, T. H. Williams, T. Tucker, F. Ives, Edgar Green, W. B. Brooke, H. W. Lewis, T. H. Thomas. Mesdames Albert Williams, F C Barnard, T. Walker, F Lovett, W. A. Walker, E. G. Pursell, S. H. Pope, the Misses Walker and D. Brooks.

Apology for absence An apology for absence was received from Revd W. O. Connor.

Celebrations to be made Proposed by Mr F. Williams seconded by Mr H. W Lewis that this Parish celebrates the Coronation of Their Majesties King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Carried

Committee Proposed by Mr. F. Ives seconded by Mrs T. Walker that a Committee of fifteen be formed with power to co-opt, for the purpose of making arrangements for the due celebrating of the Coronation. Carried It was agreed that the celebrations should be on similar lines to those for the Jubilee of the late King George V. The following were elected to serve as the Committee:- Messrs Wm A. Walker, W. B Brooke, H. W Lewis, Edgar Green, E. J. Girling, H. S. Pope, Wm Richardson, A. T. Turner. Mesdames A. Williams, T. Walker, F. C. Barnard, E. G. Pursell, H S. Pope, F Lovett and Miss Doris Brooks.

Secretary Proposed by Mrs A. Williams seconded by Mr W. J. Harper that Mr H S. Pope act as Secretary to the Committee. Carried
