Parish Council Minutes

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, 21st APRIL, 1975 at 8.30 p.m. AT LONGWICK VILLAGE HALL.

Present: Councillor J. Walker (in the Chair), Councillors D. Brock, W.G. Underwood, H.C. Restall, T.G.T. Taylor, B.E. Thomas and Miss J.H.C. Couper.

Minutes: The Minutes of the last meeting held on Monday, 17th March 1975 were read agreed and signed, subject to the insertion of Councillor H.C.Restall's name being included amongst those present.

Apologies: An apology for absence was received from Councillor L.E. Metcalfe.

Matters arising from the Minutes: (a) School Playing Field. This item was deferred for discussion to a later time in the meeting.

(b) Bridleway, Manor Farm, Ilmer. Following representation to the Bursar of Eton College, the tenant farmer had agreed to restore the bridlepath as soon as weather conditions permitted.

(c) Bell Crescent Although nothing had been heard from J. Needhams, it was noted that efforts were being made to tidy up the corner sites on Bell Crescent.

(d) Best Kept Village Competition. There were no entrants for this competition.

Planning Applications: Two applications had been received since the date of the last meeting:

W/720/75 Erection of 66 detached houses and garages at Bell Farm, Longwick. It was agreed that strong representation should be made to the planning authority giving the Council's objections to any large scale developments in Longwick at the present time and until such time as a village plan was drawn up. The present amenities of the village just could not cope with developments on such a scale.

W/734/75 Extension to form new bathroom and additional bedroom at Bar Lane House, Longwick. There were no comments to offer.

C.P.R.E. Mr. Taylor reported he had attended a further meeting of the C.P.R.E. but there were no items which were relevant to our Parish.

Finance: An application for precept of £250 in the first instance was applied for.

School Playing Field: A lengthy discussion was held on the financial aspect of fencing the proposed footpath, together with the cost of clearing the site. It was felt that the two costs together, plus the additional cost of maintenance, were unrealistic when weighed against the proportion of people who would be using the path. Before making a final decision on the matter, it was agreed that the Parent Teacher Association of the school should be informed of the Council's view and the Chairman undertook to talk to the P.T.A. giving the full opinion of the Council.

Bus Stop: Councillor Restall reported the bus stop at the Sportsmans Garage being in a damaged state and also in an extremely hazardous position. It was agreed that this matter should be referred to the bus company.
