Vestry Meeting Minutes

The joint Meeting of the Vestry and Parochial Church Electors of Ilmer was held in the Church Room on Thursday, the 5th of April, 1945, at 6, p.m. There were present - the Rev. W. O'Connor, Vicar, in the Chair, Mr. R.H. Attenborough and Mr. W.J. Harper, Churchwardens, and Mrs. Attenborough.

After the opening Prayer the Minutes of the Meeting of the 12th of April, 1944, were read, confirmed and signed. Mr. Attenborough was nominated by the Vicar as his Churchwarden, and Mr. W.J. Harper was elected as People's Churchwarden.

Mr. Harper presented the Financial Account for the year ending 31st of December, 1944, as follows:- Income - Balance from 1943, £16-13-3; Collections - Parochial, £19-16-6; non-Parochial, £14-16-11; Donations, £12-1-0. Total Income, £63-7-8. Expenditure - Non-Parochial Collections, £14-16-11; Coal, £3-6-6; Light, £1-14-0; Rates, 13s.; Candles, 7s. 11d.; Insurance, 5s.; War Damage Insurance, 3s. 6d.; Wafers, 2s. 8d.; Churchyard, £1-10-0; Register of Services, 7s. 6d.; Lighting Fire, £1; Cleaning Church, £2; Organist, £3; Clerk, £3. Total Expenditure, £32-7-0. Credit Balance, £31-0-8. The Account was passed unanimously.

The Chairman produced the Accounts of the Allotments. The annual rent, paid by Mr. Harry Goodchild, is £2-10-0. Amount in hand, £12-14-10½. Mr. Attenborough undertook to try and clear up the obscurity connected with the payment of tithe. The Chairman also produced the Accounts of the Raper Charity. Credit balance, £81-9-0. Expenditure during 1944, £6-5-8.

It was reported that serious cracks had appeared in the North and South walls of the Church. Mr. Attenborough promised to consult his architect about them.

The Meeting closed with prayer.
