Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Meeting on 25th Apr 1979.
MINUTES OF ANNUAL MEETING OF PARISH HELD ON WEDNESDAY 25th APRIL 1979 IN LONGWICK VILLAGE HALL
PRESENT Mr. W.G. Underwood - Chairman - Mrs. P. Priestley - Vice chairman - and councillors: Mrs. A. Warren - Mrs. D. Brock - Mr. T. Taylor - Dr. A. Bravery - Mr. J. Walker. There were no members of the public present.
Minutes : The Minutes of the meeting held on Monday 17th April 1978 were read, agreed and signed.
The Chairman informed those present of a number of matters which had come before the Parish Council during the last twelve months.
Special Review of the Definitive Map of Public Rights of Way Copies of the questionnaires were placed on Parish Notice Board but there were no comments from parishioners. The clerk then returned the questionnaires to Wycombe District Council stating that there were no alterations.
Review of Parish Boundaries The majority of Horsenden residents stated their wish to remain in Longwick cum Ilmer Parish. Wycombe District Council was informed that there are no changes in the present boundaries.
Bell Crescent Wycombe District Council informed the Parish Council that the land at the end of Bell Crescent is still in the hands of Needham (Builders) Ltd. They will hold a meeting with the builders and try to speed the handing over of this piece of land.
War Memorial It has now been cleaned up by Dr. Bravery and the local Scouts, the railings have been painted. The Parish Council contributed £ 12.66 towards the cost of the paint. Mr. Briant kindly removed the overhanging tree. The site is now to be re-concreted.
School Crossing Zig-zag lines have been painted outside Longwick School. 'Lollipop' person was advertised for on several occasions but no one applied for the position.
Sportsman's Garage and Duke of Wellington The Thames Valley Police feel there is no problem regarding parking outside either of these locations.
They have also stated they cannot paint double yellow lines as these could not be policed.
County Structure Plan Village Survey The Survey has been completed and the results will be available some time during 1979 and could be useful in respect of the Longwick Village plan.
Scouts Head Quarters The Playing Field Association Committee and the Village Hall Committee agreed to the proposed site for the Scout's Head Quarters. This site would be the area of land occupied by the stream to the right of the entrance gateway, together with a portion of adjacent land presently at the remote end of the school playing field. The Village Hall Committee agreed to allow the Scouts to have access over Village Hall land to the piece of land above mentioned. It was suggested that the planning application will be a joint one with the Parish Council and the Scout Organization, there will be a meeting to this purpose between these two entities.
Lottery Capital Part of the Lottery Capital of Wycombe District Council will be allocated to Longwick Parish. The Parish has asked for two seats one for Owlswick and one for Ilmer Green. The Parish Council has also requested that any money left over should be used for playing field equipment.
Bus Company The Evening bus between High Wycombe and Longwick was cancelled due to lack of patronage. The bus stop outside Walkers Estate will be moved towards the Telephone Booth, due to complaints of some neighbours.
Stile for Playing field Bucks County Council has provided a stile for Longwick Playing Field.
Planning Applications The Parish Council was consulted on 37 planning applications during the period.
School Managers Report The County has appointed Commander Packham as the new School Manager for Longwick School.
Finance The Parish Council has asked for a Precept of £ 511.- for the next financial year 1979/80. This has been approved.
Finance The Parish Council has tried to keep this figure to a minimum but inflation had to be taken into account.
Footpaths : N 12 Footpath is being diverted.
Before closing the meeting one of the councillors pointed out that the cypress trees planted on the curve at Laurel Farm, could create a future road hazard, when these trees are fully grown.
The untidy state of the lay-by on Thame Road by Anderton Farm was also mentioned.
As there were no further points, the Chairman thanked those present for attending and closed the meeting.
