Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Meeting on 20th Mar 1952.
Annual Parish Meeting. 1952. The Annual Parish meeting was held in the Schoolroom Longwick, on Thursday March 20th at 7 p.m. To read and confirm the minutes of the Special Parish meeting held on August 9th 1951. To read and confirm the minutes of the last Annual meeting. Consideration of any Parish business which may be brought before the meeting. Present. Councillors W. J. Harper. Chairman A. Ancliffe, D. Claydon, A. J. Goodchild, E. J. Girling. Mrs D. M. Walker, F. Williams and the Clerk.
Minutes. The minutes of the meeting held on August 9th 1951 were read and confirmed. The minutes of the last Annual meeting were read and confirmed.
State of Ilmer Road The Chairman and several of the Council spoke strongly of the shocking state of the road at Ilmer, and the Clerk was instructed to write to the County Surveyor about this.
30 m.p.h. Speed limit A member of the Parish, Mr Howard, brought up the matter of a 30 m.p.h. speed limit and the great desirability of such speed limit being introduced in Longwick. The Chairman informed Mr Howard that attempts to get a speed limit, had been made
on at least three occasions, but that he and the other members of the Council were quite prepared to raise the matter again. This topic was discussed at length and the Council agreed to implement their discussion by further action at the Parish Council to be held immediately after the Parish meeting. No other business being brought forward the Chairman declared the Parish meeting closed. W. J Harper Feb 26 / 53
