Parish Council Minutes

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, 6th OCTOBER 1975 at 7.45 p.m. AT LONGWICK C.E. COMBINED SCHOOL.

Present: Councillors W.G. Underwood (In the Chair), L.E. Metcalfe, H.C. Restall, T.G.T. Taylor and B.E. Thomas.

Minutes: The Minutes of the meeting held on Monday, 14th July 1975 had been circulated. These were approved and signed.

Apologies: Apologies for absence were received from Mrs. D. Brock, Mr. J. Walker and Miss J.H.C. Couper. It was agreed that a gift of fruit together with a card wishing a speedy recovery should be sent to Mrs. Brock on behalf of the Parish Council.

Matters arising from the Minutes: (a) Bridleway, Manor Farm, Ilmer. As this bridleway had once again been ploughed, it was agreed that the tenant farmer should be approached unofficially with regard to its reinstatement. The Chairman to report back at the next meeting.

(b) Dial a Bus/Postal Service. After looking into this question it was agreed that the idea would be too costly and therefore the matter should not be pursued.

(c) Road hazards - Meadle. The Divisional Surveyor had undertaken to look into the question of the road hazards in Meadle and it was agreed to keep a close watch on the situation.

Planning Applications: The following planning applications had been received since the date of the last meeting: W/1907/75 single storey extension to Plot 33 Williams Way. No comments. W/2162/75 proposed double garage and workshop at Hampton Cottage, Red Lion Lane, Longwick. No comments. W/1357/75 Caravan at Laurels Farm. This application was withdrawn and the caravan was to be removed by the end of August. W/2468/75 Extension at first floor level to the Red Lion Public House. It was agreed to comment on this application that the extension be built in line and materials in keeping with the present building.

C.P.R.E. It was reported that the annual general meeting would be held at Bradenham Manor at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, 11th October, 1975.

School Playing Field: Mr. Metcalfe reported that the Education Authority were to fence off the school playing field but it was not known whether it was the intention of the Authority to fence the ditch. It was agreed to watch developments.

Horsenden Parish Church: Mr. Rendle had approached the District Council regarding funds towards the upkeep of the churchyard and had been informed that Parish Councils could, if they so wished, contribute to the churchyard maintenance under the provisions of Section 214 of the Local Government Act 1972. It was agreed that Mr. Rendle be thanked for his interest in this matter but the Parish Council did not feel able to contribute towards the churchyard maintenance.
