Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 22nd Feb 1951.
Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick on Thursday February 22nd at 7 p.m. To read and confirm the minutes of the last meeting. Correspondence received. Re-appointment of Parish Constables. Report on the meeting at Risborough re Parish Boundaries To issue a Precept upon the Rating Authority for General Expenses Any other business Present. Councillors W J. Harper Chairman A Ancliffe D Claydon E. J. Girling A. J. Goodchild F Williams and the Clerk.
Minutes The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Arising from the minutes, the Chairman announced that £6 : 5 : - was raised by the Whist Drive for King Georges Pension Fund for Sailors and a letter of thanks from their Secretary was read; a letter from the County Surveyor was read stating that steps were being taken to deal with the dangerous condition of the Longwick - Thame Road near the entrance to Anderdons farm: the Clerk read a letter from the Secretary of the Bucks Association of Parish Councils enclosing a report on the footpaths in the Parish, the Council felt that this would be very useful in completing the survey though this matter was left in abeyance until after the next meeting. The Clerk being instructed to write a letter of thanks for the report.
Re appointment of Parish Constables On a motion proposed by Councillor Ancliffe & seconded by Councillor Claydon it was carried that Messrs O. Goodchild. F. Williams. H Goodchild. O Tapping & E. T. Rutland be re-appointed as Parish Constables.
Precept on the Rating Authority for General Expenses of the Parish The Clerk gave a statement of the accounts to date and an estimate of likely expenses during the year 1951 & 52; and it was then proposed Councillor Ancliffe and seconded Councillor Girling and carried that a precept be issued on the Rating Authority for the General Expenses of the Parish Council for the sum of Twenty pounds £20.
Report on the meeting at Risborough re Parish Boundaries. Councillor A. Ancliffe explained to the Council that due to shortness of notice he had not been able to accompany the Chairman to the meeting and that the Clerk took his place. The Chairman & the Clerk gave a report on the meeting at which no decisions were reached except that should amalgamation become imperative Longwick might be well advised to come to an arrangement with Bledlow. It was decided that the Chairman & if possible Councillor Ancliffe should attend the meeting on Boundaries at Wycombe on March 17th.
Other business The Clerk was instructed to write to the County Surveyor about the state of the footpath between The Barton & the end of the village, and after further consultation with the Chairman also to write about the state of footpaths & stiles in Horsenden. The Clerk was also instructed to write to the Telephone Manager at Oxford, about some means of indicating at night the presence of two telephone boxes abutting on the footpath in the village. The date of the Annual Parish meeting, to be followed by a meeting of the Parish Council, was fixed for Thursday, March 29th at 7 p.m. W. J Harper Mar 29/51
