Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 23rd Nov 1950.

Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick, on Thursday November 23rd 1950 at 7 p.m. To read and confirm the minutes of the last meeting. Correspondence received. Revision of Parish boundaries. Payment of Accounts. Any other business. Present. Councillors W J Harper Chairman A. Ancliffe D. Claydon. E. J. Girling A. J. Goodchild. F. Williams E. L. C. Galloway Clerk. Apology for absence received from Councillor Mrs Walker.

Minutes The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Arising from the minutes the question of the survey of footpaths was further discussed, and the Clerk read a letter from the County Surveyors office still putting the onus on the Parish Council. In view of the possibility of boundary changes it was proposed by Councillor Ancliffe & seconded Councillor Williams that the matter be left on the table for the present. Councillor Ancliffe gave an interesting report on the Annual meeting of the Buckinghamshire Association of Parish Councils.

Correspondence received 1) County Whist Drive organized for King Georges Fund for Sailors The Clerk read a letter from the King Georges Fund for Sailors announcing a County Whist Drive, the preliminary rounds of which were to be organized by Parish Councils. After some discussion the Chairman agreed to see what could be done.

Allotments The Clerk read a long statement from the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries re Allotments,

but after discussion it was found that it did not affect the Parish.

Bus turning The Clerk read a letter from the Wycombe R.D.C. stating that they could not permit the buses to turn in Blenheim Place.

Bus Shelters The Clerk read a long letter regarding the provision of Bus Shelters under the Festival of Britain Scheme, which amounted to a refusal to assist in erecting one in Longwick.

Revision of Parish Boundaries The Chairman read a letter from the Bucks Parish Councils Association stating that there would be a meeting on Saturday December 9th to discuss possible alteration of Parish Boundaries. He suggested basis of discussion to be a minimum total of £20 for the 1d rate. The position of Longwick was gone into very carefully, and it was finally proposed Councillor Ancliffe and seconded Councillor Goodchild that the Chairman be asked to attend the meeting & present the views of the Council. This was carried.

Payment of Accounts. The Chairman proposed and Councillor F. Williams seconded that the sum of ten shillings & sixpence be paid as the Parish Subscription to the Commons, Open Spaces & Footpaths Preservation Society. This was Carried.

Other business condition of road at Longwick hill. The Clerk was instructed to write to the County Surveyor regarding the frequent flooding of the portion of the Longwick-Bledlow road at a point near the entrance to Longwick Mill. W. J Harper Jan 11 / 51
