Minutes of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council on 14th Feb 1944.

Meeting of the Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Longwick on Monday February 14th 1944 at 7 pm. To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting. Consideration of communications to the Chairman. Nomination of Parish Constables. Housing in the Parish. Payment of accounts. To issue a Precept upon the Rating Authority for General Expenses of the Council. To fix, date, time, and place for Annual Parish Meeting. Consideration of unsatisfactory state of Ilmer Road. Present:- Councillors Wm A. Walker (Chairman). H. S. Pope, A. J. Goodchild, W. J. Harper, F. Williams, Ed. J. Girling, H. W. Lewis and the Clerk (Robert Bailey).

Minutes The Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

United Aid to China Fund The Chairman reported that he had received a letter in connection with United Aid to China Fund, He understood that the Wycombe R.D. Council were arranging a Flag Day throughout the District on March 14th 1944. and Mrs Walker was making herself responsible for the arrangements for Longwick. He thought that possibly a Whist Drive could be arranged, if the Council thought it advisable. After consideration the Councillors agreed to arrange for a Whist Drive in aid of the Fund, at the Village Hall, Longwick on Wednesday 15th March 1944.

Parish Constables Proposed by Councillor A. J. Goodchild seconded by Councillor H. S. Pope that the out going Parish Constables be re-nominated for the ensuing year, namely Messrs Owen Goodchild, Fred Williams, Harry Goodchild, Owen Tapping and Ernest Thomas Rutland. Carried

Housing Consideration was given to Housing requirements in the Parish. It was agreed that application be made to

the Wycombe R.D. Council for 12 Council Houses, of non Parlour and Parlour type to be erected in Longwick and to suggest that land fronting the Lower Icknield Way (from a point near the Farm buildings belonging to Ivy Farm, to the Bungalow occupied by Mr G. Barnard) belonging to Messrs Albert and Robert Thomas Goodchild would be a suitable site.

Accounts for Payment Proposed by Councillor H. W. Lewis seconded by Councillor F. Williams, that the following accounts be passed for payment:- Robert Bailey, Three Quarters Salary as Clerk to 25/12/43 £3/15/- Audit Stamp 1942/43 5/- Repayment of cash paid by Clerk for Employers Liability Insurance - 10/- Total Cheque to Bailey £4/10/- "Logonia" Premium on Clerks Bond 3/-d. Commons Preservation Society. Annual Subscription 10/6d. Carried

Precept for £10 Proposed by Councillor H. S. Pope seconded by Councillor E. J. Girling, that a Precept for Ten Pounds, for General Expenses of the Council be issued upon the Rating Authority to become payable on June 30th 1944. Carried.

Date of Annual Parish Meeting It was agreed that the Annual Parish Meeting be fixed for Tuesday March 28th 1944 at 7.30 pm at the Schoolroom, Longwick, to be followed by a meeting of the Parish Council.

Unsatisfactory state of Ilmer Road Proposed by Councillor W. J. Harper seconded by Councillor F. Williams that the attention of the Divisional Highways Surveyor be drawn to the unsatisfactory state of the Ilmer Road.

Financial Statement 1943. The Financial Statement of accounts for the year ending 31st March 1943 as certified by the auditor was laid before the meeting. Wm A Walker
